Clem Burke & Bootleg Blondie play Parallel Lines

CLEM BURKE & BOOTLEG BLONDIE PLAY PARALLEL LINES at The Fleece Tue 15 October 2019 from 07:30 pm

BOOTLEG BLONDIE is the official Debbie Harry & Blondie tribute band, the only Blondie tribute to play the legendary CBGB in New York City before it's demise in 2006 and unique in that not only have they had the honour to be thanked on Blondie’s 11th album ‘Pollinator’ but have actually toured the UK with one of Blondie’s founding members, legendary and celebrated drummer Clem Burke, to celebrate 40 years since the release of Blondie’s iconic album Parallel Lines! This turned out to be a whirlwind of sell-out shows, press interviews and fab reviews. They drove nearly 3,000 miles and played to over 4,000 people who were singing along to every word of the songs! On a day off during the tour Andy Harris (the Bootleg’s guitarist) and Clem wrote a song. They went into a studio in south London and recorded the track ‘Enigma Soho Au Go Go’. Debbie Harris (the Bootleg’s lead singer) put down some vocals and the single was released in April online and on vinyl on Pop-Up Music. Awesome!

Debbie Harris and Bootleg Blondie can be seen at all the major venues and festivals around the UK and Europe having played the Isle of Wight Festival, the 100 Club, the Hammersmith Palais, the Electric Ballroom London, Eric’s Liverpool and have opened for amongst others The Undertones, Slade, The Beat, Bad Manners, Heaven 17, Toyah, Visage, Hazel O’Connor, Tony Hadley, Bananarama, David Essex, Nick Kershaw and Chas and Dave!

Debbie and the boys have met the REAL Blondie many times. Debbie Harry wished them good luck with their show for their gig at CBGB NYC and when Clem Burke heard that they were making a replica of his Premier drum kit, he arranged a meet up to sign the Bootleg’s drum skin. During the 2010 Blondie tour of the UK they took Clem out for a trip around London in their tour bus, he signed that too!!!!
Debbie and Andy got married in March 2016 and to their great delight received two video clips from both Blondie and Debbie Harry herself congratulating them on their wedding day. What a wedding present!

Debbie Harris, lead vocalist of Bootleg Blondie, has the looks, the voice and the attitude of the original Blondie bombshell and like her heroine is typically outrageous on stage. She has been known to wear dustbin liners, thigh length boots and t.shirts with more holes than t.shirt! Debbie's pride & joy is her guitar which she plays at every show and is signed by all the Blondie band members. She appeared recently in the Mail On Sunday EVENT Magazine and performed on two shows for BBC1 when she was picked out of 15,000 applicants to represent Debbie Harry on ‘Even Better Than The Real Thing’ hosted by Paddy McGuinness which attracted an audience of 10 million viewers!

Debbie Harris is the niece of the celebrated singer and actress Shani Wallis who is best remembered for her performance as Nancy in Lionel Bart’s musical film 'Oliver'!

The Fleece, 12 St Thomas St, Bristol, BS1 6JJ.

Unless otherwise stated this is an all ages venue (under 16s must be accompanied by a adult)

Since The Blue Aeroplanes acquired The Fleece in May 2010 it has been rescued from eternal damnation as a "once great" and turned into "one of the best venues in the UK"

Relaxed atmosphere, a massive bar that is never more than 2 deep and an outside smoking/drinking/chatting area. Towns with huge arenas and stadiums would probably kill to have a venue like the Fleece in their midst.

There was a time when we'd have said the days of seeing a big band in such a small venue are gone but the hard work put in by the Aeroplanes coupled with the prestige that surrounds The Fleece means that those days are well and truly back.

A massive refurbishment at the start of 2013 means the venue can now claim to have "luxurious" toilets (at least in live music venue terms!)

With the demolition of the main entrance lobby and the installation of larger toilets the capacity has now increased from 330 to 450.
Despite being a national touring circuit venue, The Fleece regularly books local bands. If you'd like a gig email gigs@thefleece.co.uk for more details.
