AYNSLEY LISTER

AYNSLEY LISTER at Bristol SU Live Sun 24 March 2019 from 6pm - 7.30pm

Award-winning blues-rock aficionado Aynsley Lister continues his ‘Eyes Wide Open Tour’ following the
release of his eighth studio album, released on October 7 2016 on Straight Talkin’ Records.
Aynsley’s previous opus, 2013’s ‘Home’ garnered the guitar ace Songwriter of the Year at the Bri2sh Blues Awards. The album is a bold, confident and accessible slice of contemporary blues-rock that promises to bring Aynsley yet more accolades as well as introduce his genre-blending sound to a new audience, building on the 100,000 albums he’s already sold worldwide.
Peter Green, Albert King and Eric Clapton were the musical giants influencing the young ears of Aynsley Lister while he was growing up. Building on this foundation, Aynsley has cracked his own unique perspective on contemporary blues since he first formed a band aged 13 and released his self-titled debut in 1998 on Ruf Records. It’s been a fantastic journey so far that has seen Aynsley play with, amongst others, Buddy Guy, John Mayall and Lynyrd Skynyrd. He’s won mul7ple awards including Guitarist of the Year at the 2015 Bri2sh Blues Awards and was nominated in the Guitarist and Male Vocal categories in the 2016 Bri7sh Blues Awards.

Eyes Wide Open sees Aynsley confidently pursuing his own musical path. Self-assured, inven7ve and richly- textured, he brings his 18 years of hard touring, 11 album releases (eight studio and three live) and all his experience as a musician to fruition. Eyes Wide Open also displays Aynsley’s exquisite taste that means he always plays for the song, bringing the blues to everyone.

You can say what you like about students....
You cannot deny that nothing attracts cool bands like a university student union and Bristol uni is no exception.
Up in one of the prettier parts of Bristol, hidden by some trees is the Anson Rooms, the uni’s live music hall. The venue itself is a big, school like, assembly room with a stage at one end and doors leading to a bar at the side with sensibly priced Drinks.
It is a simple, no gimmicks venue that lets the bands play their music how they want to and the kids jump up and down and scream. You will generally find the indie kids at the front sweating, going crazy and the grown ups at the back enjoying the gig in a more restrained manner.

Almost every Guitar band on their way up has come through the doors. When they were littler, the likes of the White Stripes, Franz Ferdinand, Kasabian and Feeder have all played in this modest 900 capacity venue. A cert to keep your eye on for everyone who loves the NME and the live music scene. It is not only for students, although they do tend to get 'stuck in' the most.
It's an Over 14’s Venue if you're unaccompanied (Ages10 to 13 can go but must be in the company of an adult at all times) and they are safety conscious. Security is tight but not so in your face that it impedes on having a good time.

…Oh and really.... You can say what you like about students.
