You can say what you like about students....
You cannot deny that nothing attracts cool bands like a university student union and Bristol uni is no exception.
Up in one of the prettier parts of Bristol, hidden by some trees is the Anson Rooms, the uni’s live music hall. The venue itself is a big, school like, assembly room with a stage at one end and doors leading to a bar at the side with sensibly priced Drinks.
It is a simple, no gimmicks venue that lets the bands play their music how they want to and the kids jump up and down and scream. You will generally find the indie kids at the front sweating, going crazy and the grown ups at the back enjoying the gig in a more restrained manner.

Almost every Guitar band on their way up has come through the doors. When they were littler, the likes of the White Stripes, Franz Ferdinand, Kasabian and Feeder have all played in this modest 900 capacity venue. A cert to keep your eye on for everyone who loves the NME and the live music scene. It is not only for students, although they do tend to get 'stuck in' the most.
It's an Over 14’s Venue if you're unaccompanied (Ages10 to 13 can go but must be in the company of an adult at all times) and they are safety conscious. Security is tight but not so in your face that it impedes on having a good time.
…Oh and really.... You can say what you like about students.
