Tank and The Bangas

TANK AND THE BANGAS at SWX Fri 1 March 2019 from 07:00 pm

Colston Hall Presents...

Coming from New Orleans, Tank and the Bangas are surrounded by plenty of grand musical traditions. And the five-piece group has a rare knack for combining various musical styles—fiery soul, deft hip-hop, deep-groove R&B and subtle jazz—into one dazzling, cohesive whole that evokes the scope of New Orleans music while retaining a distinctive feel all its own.

Members of Tank and the Bangas met at a New Orleans open mic show called Liberation Lounge at Blackstar Cafe and Books in the Algiers section of New Orleans and formed the group in 2011. Since then the band have grown in reputation and popularity and the once best kept secret of New Orleans is now the 2017 NPR Tiny Desk Contest-winning powerhouse they are today.
