Elder

ELDER at The Fleece Thu 4 October 2018 from 07:00 pm

ELDER return to Snuff Lane for Bristol’s ever-evolving fourth installment of 'soaring melodies and sonic soundscapes'.

Eargasmic support from US progressive heavy rockers ANCESTORS, the hugely anticipated return of 'galactic-psychedelic' heavyweight rockers EARTHMASS, alongside local space-doom, post-metallers CEGVERA.

Elder is the definition of a work in progress, as the group continues to meld the familiar sounds of Sleep‘s colossal riffage with their ever-evolving vision of soaring melodies and sonic soundscapes. Listeners will find themselves locked into the trio’s lengthy epics, which toe the line between the chasms of classic stoner metal and mindblowing psychedelia.

Since the release of 2010′s Dead Roots Stirring, their second full-length record for MeteorCity Records, Elder has continued to push their sound in more dynamic and inspiring directions, while still holding true to their original methodology: all heavy, no filler.

Ancestors

Formed in 2006 and instead of "choosing between prog rock or heavy rock," merged the styles to create music rife with atmosphere, tension and raw human emotion.

Ancestors create mighty, modern music that dovetails innovative arrangement, crushing primordial riff interplay and melodic instrumental passages with textural atmospherics. With both thunderous roar and expansive communiqué, Ancestors are proving to be a quickly-emerging force of musical power and creativity.

EARTHMASS

"A four piece band from Essex, are one of those bands that are hard to describe. It could be easy just to say ‘progressive’ and run off, but there are elements of ambient, sludge, stoner, doom and psychedelia in the mix as well. I have seen Earthmass twice before, supporting Conan at the Hole in the Wall in October and then as headliners in May. Seeing Earthmass live is an experience, it’s truly something that is best seen in person. I’ve experienced their live shows with metalcore fans who have come out demanding to experience the show again, causing them to delve deeper into the less core side of metal." - MetalRecusants – ‘ORMR’ review

The Fleece, 12 St Thomas St, Bristol, BS1 6JJ.

Unless otherwise stated this is an all ages venue (under 16s must be accompanied by a adult)

Since The Blue Aeroplanes acquired The Fleece in May 2010 it has been rescued from eternal damnation as a "once great" and turned into "one of the best venues in the UK"

Relaxed atmosphere, a massive bar that is never more than 2 deep and an outside smoking/drinking/chatting area. Towns with huge arenas and stadiums would probably kill to have a venue like the Fleece in their midst.

There was a time when we'd have said the days of seeing a big band in such a small venue are gone but the hard work put in by the Aeroplanes coupled with the prestige that surrounds The Fleece means that those days are well and truly back.

A massive refurbishment at the start of 2013 means the venue can now claim to have "luxurious" toilets (at least in live music venue terms!)

With the demolition of the main entrance lobby and the installation of larger toilets the capacity has now increased from 330 to 450.
Despite being a national touring circuit venue, The Fleece regularly books local bands. If you'd like a gig email gigs@thefleece.co.uk for more details.

It is possible to buy E-Tickets for this event. This means they will not be posted to you. Instead, you just log in to your account, find the event in your orders.
