THE DUGOUT

THE DUGOUT at Dojo Lounge Thu 22 March 2018 from 07:30 pm

The DUGOUT – One - 35 years on… at the Dojo Night Club
Thurs 22 March 2018 from 7pm – 3am
IC-MUSIC PROMOTIONS presents
Notes: Over 18s Only
This is our first event celebrating the iconic underground music venue “The Dug Out”, the music played and the people that went. A mingling fusion of Punks, Rastas, students, soul girls and soul boys, Afro-Caribbeans, middle-class trendies, musicians, artists, misfits, drinkers, smokers, nonconformists and rebels. A melting pot representing a generation of youth that broke social, cultural and genre boundaries on the dance floor and where visionary DJ’s mashed punk, soul, hip-hop, reggae, funk, dub, jazz, disco and groove behind the decks. The video lounge brought us our first sound and vision tapes and a selection of cult films, the space invader machine a taste of things to come and the legendary sticky carpets a source of nostalgia since the club closed in 1986…
We would like to thank Andy “Beezer” for allowing us to use his photos for this event, some of which will also be on show at the venue on the night.
The Dojo Club, 16 Park Row, Bristol, being the closest we could get to the real thing, is quite small. Tickets are very limited and there is NO GUEST LIST.

The Dojo Bar epitomises Bristol’s club scene.
It has a relaxed atmosphere, it’s dark, and it’s underground (sort of). concentrates on good house and techno as well as Bristol’s staple drum and Bass and Dubstep. Pass it during the day you will probably miss it. A single door standing between a treatment centre and a sandwich shop signal the entrance.
At night however the red neon goes on and there is almost always a small queue. The dance floor is small with seating booths running down one side and the bar on the other. At the back is the eye level DJ booth. There is also a big outdoor smoking terrace which is widely appreciated after about an hour packed on the dance floor. The outside is also heated and covered and there is a good amount of seating.
Over 18s only and under 21s will require id to purchase drinks at the bar
